The UMGC is a distributed research center. For information about the organization and departments involved, visit the ABOUT US page.

Because UMGC is a distributed center, some of the equipment and resources are located throughout the Ole Miss campus. But as part of the UMGC mission, the Geoinformatics Learning Laboratory (GLL) was created. The GLL is located in 216 Old Chemistry Building.


GLL:

The GLL houses the UMGC data server ("GRANITE"), UMGC liscenes server, 27 Windows 2000 Profession Workstations, along with supporting printers and plotters. The GLL offers students an researchers a wide veriety of GIS and remote sensing, and image processing software. The GLL is used by many disiplaines to illustrator and intruct the use of geo-spatial information.

HOURS:

The GLL is open from 9am - 5pm daily while classes are in session. Near the near of the semister and during special research efforts, the GLL will be open on weekends and evenings. For current hours, please download the latest Arcobat™ file:

Web Server Systems:

The UMGC web server is a SUN® Ultra 10 using a SPARC processor, 256 MB RAM and 16 GB SCSII 2 disk. The software used are Apache 1.3 web server, Tomcat 4.01 for a servlet container with a JSP environment and Internet map services are supplied using ESRI® IMS 3.1.
