Basic ArcView Training -

This is a standard 2-day course offered by the UMGC. Dr. Easson is a authorized ESRI instructor for this course. Priority seating will be given to University of Mississippi faculty and staff. Seating is limited to 27 persons. For more information, contact Dr. Greg Easson.

Introduction of GIS and GPS Workshop -

This will be a 1-day workshop offered on a Friday to individuals interested a hands-on approach to the collection and utilization of hand held GPS (Global Positioning System) units and its incorporation within a GIS (Geographic Information System). This course will offer basic theory into the use of a small handheld GPs unit. Including how to download the data from the unit to be used in a GIs

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of computer using the Microsoft Windows Operating System. Some knowledge of ArcView and GIS theory.

UMGC GIs/GPs Workshop Course Material

For a version of the GPS download software used in class, g7towin, you could have visited Ron Henderson's web site. However, the site is no longer available. So UMGC has provided the last know version of Ron Henderson's software.

A new shareware program, OziExplorer, is also being used to download GPS data. This program can be used with Garmin, Lowrance, Eagle and Magellan GPS units. The program costs US$75 for the full version but a shareware version is a vailable.
